OTG Loses a Friend

In: UTB Site Stuff

19 May 2009

I awoke this morning to the news that one of my kinmates, a wonderful guy that I personally did not have enough time to get to know, passed away this morning at 1:30 AM Eastern Time.

Iridar (Robert Ward)  was a member of The Old Timers Guild, a large multi game guild with a large presence in LotRO.  Iri became sick a few weeks ago which led him to an extended hospital stay where it was discovered to be cancer.  After diagnosis and treatment things looked like they where turning for the better.  Iri even had a chance to post on the OTG forums.   That night however he suffered a heart attack. He was found with no pulse and unresponsive.  This morning they removed life support.

Please be in prayer for Iri’s family, he leaves behind his wife, Catiana (Cathrine) also a member of OTG’s LotRO chapter, and children. He will be missed.

OTG will be holding an event and more details will come forth with information about support.

(Please leave well wishes on the main LotRO forum or here)

UPDATE: For all OTG members.  The emote of the month has been changed to /mourn to remember our friend.

Oh man. I recently joined OTG as Risalin (not fully sponsored yet, though) and had read about this… I didn’t know him at all, but it’s very sad.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Iri was part of the Thursday static I was in as an alternate player.

Of all times for our forums to be down. He will be missed.

Iridar and I had far too many adventures in OTG and Lotro to recount here. Suffice to say I’m aching today for the memory of the man and grieving for the family he left behind. I am thankful for the time I did get to spend with Rob as one of the “voices in my head” and like Poetry won’t enjoy the silence now that he’s gone.

I have no words to express the loss of a good friend. Iri will be sorely missed and his loss will be greatly felt. But nothing is worse then the loss his family is feeling at this time. My heart is heavy today and my thoughts go out to His loving wife and family as they try to work through the loss of a good man.

Fair well my friend. OTG and I will never forget you.

I echo many of the voices here. It will take a while to get used to the fact that he is gone. My heart goes out to Cat and the kids. I will always remember the fun times from our Sunday/Thursday static groups.

Miss you already, Iri!!

My condolences to the family. There is no special word to make the hurt your family is going through go away. You and the kids are in my prayers. If ever you need a shoulder or ears, I offer them. *Hugs*
