One Simple Question
May 17th, 2007 by Ealdor
The Captain forums got a WONDERFUL response from a dev today that has many of us who play Captain dancing and sitting on the edge of our seats.
Yelland posted a very simple question that asked;
Why can’t I buff myself?
That is all!
Thanks
This is a great question. Here we have many great buffs to hand out but the only way we can take advatage of them is if we run across another captain and somehow get a drive-by buff.
Low and behold however some awesome information was released by Tens
Because the Shores of Evendim update hasn’t gone live yet. Oh, wait… perhaps I’ve said too much…

This is truly a major bread crumb put before us that gives us much hope. But it only got better as the night went on when Tens added.
Just wait until they hear about the Power Cost reductions!
Many of us in the Captain community are very glad to hear this news. It looks like the expansion will be something like none of us have experienced in such an early release of content to a game.

No buffs whatsoever? What about the herald I didn’t know that Captains couldn’t buff themselves.? That must be frustrating to have buffs available but not be able to use them on yourself. If that does indeed change in Evendim, that should be rather awesome for Captains.
Power Cost reductions are always a good thing as well.
The buff that the herald give does affect us, but the special player buffs we get that allow a player to get extra crits for damage classes or extra evade for casters is not castable on ourselves.
There is another issue of Captains not able to heal NPC’s such as those in an escort quest. Minstrels and Lore Masters are able to heal them but we cant. *pout*
Well many of the other classes can’t heal NPC’s on escort quests either so welcome to the club.
I know what you’re saying though. As a class with the capability to throw out heals, it should be possible.
